Monday, January 17, 2011 @ MLK - In Remembrance
Well...its been quite a while since Ive updated this thing and quite honestly, i forgot all about it til my friend Jojo reminded me of what my URL to this thing was lol. So i said i would start updating again when time permitted.

I wont get into whats changed between my last post and now, ill just save it for another entry but this one is basically dealing with what today stands for or at least what its SUPPOSE to stand for.

Being that today is MLK's birthday and it usually means parades and a free day off for kids from school but what i want to know is do we really know the true meaning behind all this?

At least how i see it is a day for parades in his honor with is all fine and dandy, but to show up and act out....almost...disrespecting the man and everything he stood for...well then we really don't know what today is all about.

The man preached unity between all brothers and sisters of every race, color, creed, etc etc. Peace to one and all, most importantly non violence.

But yet every other day of the year its violence, violence, violence and its just not in the African American community but everywhere.

Yes we have made alot of progress over time as a people but if this great man was alive today to witness whats going on...what do you think he would say? What would our people who stood with me back in the 50s and 60s during the civil war so we're able to drink from the same water fountains, eat at the same diners, attend the same schools, and most importantly, the right to vote.

Yes we put one day aside to come together and honor a great man but we should be manifesting his practices into reality EVERYDAY.

So again i ask, are we really living his dream out today? or just fooling ourselves for one day and back to business as usual tomorrow?
